Evince, a tool that is offered for free to Windows and Linux users around the world, can be used to open and view a variety of documents. As a matter of fact, Evince is a free document viewer that provides support for the following formats: PDF, Postscript, DjVu, TIFF, DVI, XPS, comics books (cbr,cbz,cb7 and cbt), and SyncTex support with gedit.

Evince is available for Windows and Linux. Focusing on Windows alone, it must be mentioned that support is provided for all Windows editions from Windows XP onward. Just download an installer, run it, go through the simple instructions presented by a setup wizard, and you will be done installing Evince in no time at all.

The main panel on the Evince’s interface displays the document you loaded into the application. At the top there’s a File Menu and a toolbar that features the following buttons: previous/next page, jump to page, set zoom level.

As mentioned above, Evince provides support for several types of documents: PDF, Postscript, DjVu, TIFF, DVI, XPS, comics books (cbr,cbz,cb7 and cbt), and SyncTex support with gedit. This means you can load a supported file format into the application and view that file. After loading a supported file into Evince, you can perform a few handy actions: rotate, search, save a copy, print out the document.

Evince is free software.

There’s much to like about Evince: it is very easy to use, it is free, it can be used to view a variety of documents.

Pros

You will be done with the installation process in no time at all. You will figure out the interface in no time at all. Evince provides support for several types of documents: PDF, Postscript, DjVu, TIFF, DVI, XPS, comics books (cbr,cbz,cb7 and cbt), and SyncTex support with gedit. Evince is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
